    Procalcitonin (PCT) is a superior biomarker of bacterial infection, and serial testing of PCT has been shown to offer clinical benefits and reduce hospital spending by:

    • minimizing the number of blood cultures performed
    • shortening the time spent on antibiotic therapy
    • improving the timing of diagnosis and the ability to refine antibiotic treatment accordingly
